SST and TSMC integrate SuperFlash

Flash memory technology company SST (Silicon Storage Technology) and semiconductor chip manufacturer TSMC announce a licensing agreement to provide TSMC customers with 90nm embedded flash memory.

In particular, TSMC customers, including, for example, the FPGA supplier Xilinx, will be able to integrate 90nm SuperFlash memory into their chips.

SuperFlash technology is reportedly optimized for 64-bit microcontrollers, high-speed ASICs and multimedia ICs. SuperFlash uses split-gate, source-side injection and zero-point memory cells and supports VDD logic read mode. SuperFlash is also suitable for applications requiring low power consumption and high density.

Trial samples of off-the-shelf solutions are expected to be available next year.
